Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the FaithJustice Foundation.

We are a new nonprofit organization purposed to equip and empower faith communities to take action for social justice in cities, states, and on the national level. Our goal is to provide education, training, resources, and eventually grantmaking to churches and faith-based organizations engaged in grassroots, social justice ministry, action, and advocacy.

Over the past few years, we have heard many people of faith express concern about the injustices that persist in our society. People of faith are deeply troubled by persistent poverty in our nation of great wealth, inequality in our land of opportunity, and mass incarceration in our country founded on liberty and justice for all. Many people of faith want to make a difference on these and other important issues but are not sure where to start.

That’s the question that we seek to answer. The FaithJustice Foundation exists to help congregations and other communities of faith explore how their faith impacts the important social justice issues of our time. We seek to educate, train, and help people of faith take action on issues affecting their communities and beyond. We seek to combine discipleship with social justice, ministry and advocacy for a full vision of what it means to be a disciple.

Our first initiative is Social Justice Summer 2018. This summer, we will be inviting congregations across the country to join us in a season of worship, study, and action on social justice. We will invite congregations to participate in a book study, sermon series, and small group discussions on social justice. We will invite these congregations to take one collective social justice action by the end of summer. Possible actions include voter registration, an offering of letters, a prayer vigil, and many others.

Social Justice Summer will combine several pillars of Christian ministry: worship, discipleship, evangelism, and mission. We invite congregations to preach the word, study faith and social justice, and then take informed, meaningful action. As a result, congregations can grow – spiritually and numerically – by engaging in relevant ministry that addresses the problems of our communities. Moreover, and most importantly, we can work toward that day when justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

Blessings,
